Pea and Ham Soup







Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Makes: 4-6 Serves


Ingredients you will need:

  • 250 gm green split peas
  • 6 cups chicken stock or water
  • 250 gm ham off the bone, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley

How to make this recipe:

  1. In a large pan or slow cooker, add all the ingredients together and mix well. 

    Slow Cooker: Cook for 6 hrs on High or 8 hrs on Low. Mix Occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.

    Stovetop: Bring ingredients to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-1.5 hours, or until split peas are soft and pulpy. Stir occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.

Serving Suggestions:  
Serve hot, with toasted buttered bread, if desired.
