Pea and Ham Soup
Ingredients you will need:
- 250 gm green split peas
- 6 cups chicken stock or water
- 250 gm ham off the bone, finely chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley
How to make this recipe:
- In a large pan or slow cooker, add all the ingredients together and mix well.
Slow Cooker: Cook for 6 hrs on High or 8 hrs on Low. Mix Occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
Stovetop: Bring ingredients to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-1.5 hours, or until split peas are soft and pulpy. Stir occasionally. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve hot, with toasted buttered bread, if desired.
