Butter Chicken Recipe



This is a delicious recipe. This is a great friday night meal, instead of being tempted to get take out, you can whip this up in under 20 minutes. It's creamy, spicy and pairs well with rice or flat bread.

For this recipe you will need:

  • 1 tbsp. Butter ($0.20)
  • 800g Chicken Breast, cut into bite sized pieces ($6.06)
  • 1 Onion, thinly sliced ($0.44)
  • 1 Garlic, thinly sliced ($0.10)
  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Ginger ($0.10)
  • 1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon ($0.10)
  • 1 tsp. Ground Tumeric ($0.10)
  • 1 tsp. Ground Coriander ($0.10)
  • 2 tsp. Paprika ($0.15)
  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Cumin (0.10)
  • 1/8 tsp. Chilli powder ($0.05)
  • 2 tsp. Chicken stock powder ($0.20)
  • 4 tbsp. Tomato paste ($0.40)
  • 300mls Cream / Coconut Cream ($1.65)


Heat butter in a large pan  over medium heat. Once the butter starts to bubble add the Chicken, Onion and Garlic. Allow the chicken to brown and the chicken to become translucent.

Add the spices and mix with the chicken. Allow to cook for 1 minute. Add the tomato paste and cook for a further 1 minute.

Add the cream to pan, stir to combine. Simmer until the sauce has thickened.
