Quick & Easy Flat Bread
Makes: 8 pieces
Time: 15 minutes
Total Cost: $0.35
To make this recipe you will need:
- 1.5 Cups All Purpose Flour ($0.15)
- 2 Tsp. Baking Powder ($0.05)
- 1 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil ($0.10)
- 1 Tsp. Salt ($0.05)
- Water, enough to make a soft dough ($0.00)
Add all of the ingredients except the water to a bowl, and mix to combine. Add water, starting with 1/3 cup and mix, continue adding water and stirring until you achieve a soft dough.
Turn this out onto a clean and flat suface, kneading until you get a smooth and soft ball. Add more flour if necessary. The dough should be soft, but not sticky. Knead for about a minute, unti the ball is smooth.
Divide the dough into 8 equal sized pieces.
On a lightly floured board, roll out each of the pieces of dough until they are approximtely 1/4 inch thick.
Once all of the balls have been rolled out, heat a non-stick pan over high heat. Add the first piece of dough and allow to cook until bubbles have emerged and the underside is golden brown. Turn the piece over with a pair of tongs and allow to cook until this is also golden brown. The pan will be very hot, so be careful.
Repeat with all 8 pieces.
Serve with your favourite dips, curry or like me, use it for quick and easy pizza bases!
